When I joined AlterEyes they focused on building VR Arcade hardware and software. I got to learn a lot about hardware development, while ofcourse safely looking from afar on the software side! We experimented a lot with various location based VR technologies. Perhaps the one I am most proud of is a tracking system I developed that attached vive trackers to Quest 2 VR headset. In software I merged the tracking systems of both using some clever matrix math and filtering algorithms. The most succesfull platform I developed for was AlterEyes’ Dojo VR system. A VR arcade structure where up to four players can play games together.

While these games were all working already before I joined AlterEyes I did modify them after joining to change things for Dojo. Pointy Ends especially was one where I changed and added a lot. I added a bot system that served two purposes. Players could play in the Dojo with only one, two or three players and the empty slots would be filled up by intelligent bots. But it also helped a huge amount when testing. Because I programmed the bots to essentially be virtual players using all the same grabbing, teleporting and shooting functionalities as normal players, debugging became a whole lot easier!

You can check out the Pointy Ends Steam store page here. The Steam store page for Clash of Chefs VR can be found here. Finally the Steam store page for Loco Dojo can be found here.
